Uvkir is a recently formed epic / melodic death metal band, until now they have released the excellent Ep "The magic and power of Satrokon".
We contacted Uvkir guitarist Kenduenir to find out more about the band's past, present and future.

ABM: Can you tell us how and why Uvkir are born?

KENDUENIR: Uvkir was born with the idea of giving a soundtrack to my books. I have always been passionate about fantasy literature and I find that writing short stories is a way to better understand yourself and the world, for this reason I have been writing for years, even if I have never had the serious intention of publishing anything, my writings being intended first of all to myself. I have known the other members Beothor and Tandrimm for some time, they are excellent musicians and I had no doubts that they were the right people to enlist in the band.

ABM: Can you give us a run down of the stories and historical events that inspired the lyrics of "The magic and the power of Satrokon"?

KENDUENIR:The lyrics are taken from the first volume of my books which has the same title as the album. A deceived and oppressed people becomes aware of their chains and begins a long battle against the ruling power, yet the path to freedom will prove to be longer than expected. Human beings will realize, that they were looking for something they do not know and which turns out to be elusive. Human beings will realize that, what they are looking for is not freedom, but hope.

ABM: Is there a particular band that inspired you? tell us about your favorite musicians.

KENDUENIR: We love all the epic and evocative metal, I don't mention bands in particular because they would be too many, in any case no artist had fully satisfied what we mean by epic metal that's why we are here.

ABM: Do you think that UVKIR have actually created their own unique style?
KENDUENIR: we are working on it and I think our debut album is an excellent first step in this direction, we have no other purpose than to satisfy ourselves so even if the public may consider our music something they have already heard, we do not give much importance to it.

ABM: Which is your favorite song and why?

KENDUENIR: it is a difficult question because if a song has ended up on the disc it means that we have chosen it among many others that have been discarded, however if I have to choose one I would say "The war of the shadows", as I believe that in it we have developed at best all our strengths such as: fast tempos, epic choirs and mid tempos.

ABM: What are your plans for the future?

KENDUENIR: definitely record a new album, at the moment we don't have many finished songs, but some great ideas we are working on calmly so that the creation process goes on as naturally as possible. We've definitely put aside the idea of playing live for the reasons we all know

KENDUENIR: there is no fantasy on one side and reality on the other, the two are intertwining with each other. Become conscious and you will be free!
