When the request by Casus Belli to take care of Sillage arrived in the office, I had not the slightest idea who or what the Délice were; I imagined it could be a French project, given the names, and my hypothesis seemed to be gradually more and more correct, while I realized on which tracks our Ours moved. Then, a piano fell on my head from the sky.

Délice is none other than yet another project by B.M., a young, brilliant Russian musician who is probably best known for his work in Skyforest. Among the research I immediately noticed his participation in Coldawn's debut album, of which LordPist had written months ago, and this does not leave me at all surprised. The stylistic coordinates in which Sillage can be framed, in fact, are the same as those of our own Falaise, Sadness and the first Lantlôs: light, airy, refined, bittersweet black metal, very rich in emotional nuances.

Given the great stylistic canonicality, the peculiarity of this disc (as well as of all the publications of the genre) must be sought within the texts. Images evoked by B.M. they are, as can be guessed from the name of the album (Sillage, in French, indicates the trail of foam left on the water by a moving ship) and of individual tracks, referable to the world of nature, in perfect harmony with the nineteenth-century romantic principles . Short and concise compositions, poignant poems written with carefully researched words, capable of making double, natural images, a mirror of the earth and of the human soul, re-emerge in the mind of the listener.

The return in style of the Darkthrone will have also reawakened in many people's hearts the Black Flame, reminding the most how it is made Black metal, but the 90s (unfortunately and also a little fortunately) are now over for a while now. Sillage is the son of the second half of the first two decades of the 2000s, with his shoegaze movements, the post-soul and the awareness of being away from real black metal as much as Gigi D'Alessio is from grindcore. Within its microcosm, Délice is not an innovative project nor, in fact, does it want to be; if the intent of B.M. instead, it is to hit the listener, so get ready, immerse yourself in this listening and let yourself be carried away.
