The horn Gjallahorn (Old Icelandic meaning "Resounding Horn") is the instrument of Heimdall, (Heimdallr in Old Icelandic) who, according to the Poetic and Prose Edda, is the guardian Divinity of the home of the Gods. He watches for the arrival of the Gods' nemesis atop the Bifröst bridge and will sound Gjallahorn when the battle begins. He is often depicted as the arch-enemy of Loki
