This album was a huge disappointment for me. I was expecting better things because I heard good things about the band and they were supposedly similar to other bands I like. It was limited to 888 copies and I think maybe they should have made it less so less people would have to hear it. Also, I think it should be pointed out that the cover art for this album is completely uninspired. It looks like someone walked into the woods behind their house and took a picture with their iPhone.
The album has an extremely raw production. The vocals are the typical black metal drivel we usually hear, and the lyrics are in Italian and English, but it doesn't really matter what language is being used because they are not understandable and sometimes the vocals are inaudible anyway. The drums and bass are both almost nonexistent but when the drums are heard they are decent and the bass is great. The guitar is very monotonous and sounds like a buzzsaw. Keyboard and strings are used very heavily on the album and are played very well, one of the few good things about it.
The 1st few songs (after the long intro) are some of the best but it's a chore to listen after them. The high point of all the songs is the cover of Xasthur's "Walker Of Dissonant Worlds" for 2 reasons: it really is the album's best song and it signals the end of this train wreck. There are a few moments throughout the album where almost nothing is happening. This seems extremely pointless; why not make the rest of the song a separate track? However, there are a few moments that create a feeling despair and emptiness, such as in "Doomed to Endless Desolation", but these are few and far between.
Overall, I would say do not waste time or money on this album. There are other bands in this style who do this much better.
