The name of the band is a reference to the Norse god Freyr (whose name means "Lord" in English) which had his cultic center in Central Sweden.
Cult of Frey went on hiatus after the recording of their first demo 'Sons of Ing' and subsequent departure of guitarist Jason Howitt in 1994. Re-activated in 2006, recorded "Blood Sacrifice" song and then split up ...
