Bran Barr is the mighty raven who brings the soul of the dying to the other world, it's a name in the old Gallic language.
The band was inactive for a while, but reformed in 2005.

Lyrics also deal with fantasy inspired by Celtic myth and Gallic history. "Les Chroniques de Naerg" was inspired by the Gallic war against Cesar and the myth of Cuchulain. The story of the second album takes place before the one of the first, but the two are linked. It's about a war in the Sidh, the "underworld" where mythological people still live. This war is parallel with the one in the human world. It's the same fight between Kran, the god of entropy, and the old Celtic gods. The destiny of the two worlds will meet in the third part.

The band is heavily influenced by "Tuatha na Gael"-era Cruachan. (Above information taken from this interview.) Additional traditional instruments (such as Irish bagpipes, tin whistle and bodhran) by John "Pen of Chaos" Lang (known for his humorist fantastic mp3 adventure "Le Donjon de Naheulbeuk").
